'Tis the Season

Four seasons... wow... Have we really made it this far? This little dream?

Yes, we sure have! And it's October 26th 2010. 39 days until our Season 4 world premier and we are running routines full out, making edits to our music tracks, and getting ready for our best year ever.

The first three seasons were really the time we needed to figure out who we were. For a long time, I felt like we stood on shaky ground. There was always that uncertainty of if it was too good to be true. We always were worried about what other gyms were doing or what people were saying. And now- it feels a lot different. I'm not scared anymore. I'm not afraid of people coming to video tape my teams Dec 4th- because we're going to be ready! I'm not afraid to stand up against someone who is always ready to put us down- because I've got an army behind me. I'm not afraid to choose a song because someone might think it's about them. Hey, maybe it is!!!

Season Four is what I like to call our "coming of age/ coming into our own" season. At the beginning of the season, we made a decision. A decision that this was our year and our time. No one can stop us but ourselves. Our motto this season is "OUR TIME, OUR SHINE" We're no longer worried about who's watching, who's talking, or what other teams are doing. This year is about US. Our goals and plans for this season are the goals and plans that we decided on for our gym and our teams. We didn't base anything off of what other programs or teams are doing, we're simply doing it the way we want to; and it feels so good.

People don't get to see the work we put in. They don't see the laps our kids run, the conditioning- the countless push ups and sit-ups. They don't see the tears of frustration or the joy of getting a new skill. It's all behind the scenes. Our kids have been working hard since we started practicing in May- and what do they get to show for it? 2 minutes and 30 seconds. That's all. We have those 2 minutes to speak to the world. The floor is our microphone and our routine is our story. In competitive all star cheerleading, our entire routine is performed to music. And this year, each coach was able to pick their own songs and put them as they choose. Each team gets their time through their music, to show the world what they've been through. And our music is exactly that- our message, our life, our 4 seasons all rolled in to one... It's our 2 minutes and 30 seconds to give you our story.

And I guarentee- we've got 7 stories you want to hear all about.

COMING SOON: Behind the scenes video from all of our team practices leading up to our December 4th Showcase!!! Be sure to check back at the end of this week for Video Number 1

Shine Athletics 2010-2011: "Our Time, Our Shine"

"So just live, make mistakes, and have wonderful times. Believe this is how it's supposed to be. But never ever second guess who you are, where you have been, and most importantly, where it is that you are going."
